It is the story of Nadio Caporrelli, gelato maker, master of flavour and tireless experimenter. Through the 1980s and '90s, while the 490 was becoming a landmark on Via Vestina, Nadio was leaving for Australia, where he spent several seasons and where, in Adelaide, he brought new ideas and new specialities to life.
Between one experience and the next came Modena, Brazil, Santo Domingo and many other places. Everywhere he took with him his idea of hospitality and his passion for flavour, learning, experimenting and often anticipating fashions and trends.
But the most important journey is the one home.
Because the 490 is home. It is the street number that belonged to the family and that over the years has become a place to meet, to stop, to chat and to treat yourself to something good.
Here Nadio brings back everything he learned around the world and blends it with his own Abruzzo roots: artisan gelato, pastry, creativity and welcome, in a place that has grown over the years without losing its soul.
From 1979 to today, the 490 continues its journey. But the destination, in the end, has always been the same: home.
