It is the story of Nadio Caporrelli, gelato maker, master of flavour and tireless experimenter. Through the 80s and 90s, while 490 was becoming a landmark on Via Vestina, Nadio was leaving for Australia, where he spent several seasons and where, in Adelaide, he brought new ideas and new specialities to life.
Between one experience and the other, he came to Modena, Brazil, Santo Domingo and many other places. Everywhere he took with him his idea of hospitality and his passion for flavour, learning, experimenting and often anticipating trends.
But the most important journey is coming back home.
Because 490 is home. It is the street number that belonged to the family and that over the years has become a place to meet, to stop by, to chat and to treat yourself to something good.
Here Nadio brings back everything he learned around the world and blends it with his own Abruzzo roots: artisanal gelato, pastry, creativity and hospitality, in a place that has grown over the years without losing its soul.
Since 1979 until today, 490 continues its journey. But the destination, in the end, has always been the same: home.
